Founded by brothers Nick and Jonathan Diener, the band quickly established a reputation for their energetic performances and heartfelt lyrics. Initially influenced by the burgeoning punk rock and pop-punk scenes of the mid-to-late 1990s, The Swellers honed their sound through relentless touring and a series of well-received independent releases.In 2009, The Swellers signed with Fueled by Ramen, a label known for it's roster of influential punk and alternative acts. Their debut album for the label, "Ups and Downsizing," marked a significant step forward for the band, earning them a broader audience and critical acclaim.
